The Jimmy Hauburger Memorial Scholarship
The Jimmy Hauburger Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to graduating Tappan Zee High School seniors who demonstrate kindness and caring to others and has been a friend to fellow students in need.
Three awards of $2,000 each will be awarded
How to Apply
Applicant must be a graduating Tappan Zee High School Senior.
Applicant is required to write a detailed essay of a least 100 words but limited to a maximum of 250 words. Essay should cover why you believe you deserve this award. Please provide examples of how you have shown compassion, practiced kindness, prevented harassment or bullying of others or helped a friend in need.
Applicant is required to have one recommendation submitted on their behalf from an adult school staff or community member. Recommendations from family members will not be accepted.
The recommendation must include:
- How long have you known the student?
- In what capacity do you know the student?
- Give specific examples of where you witnessed the student doing one or more of the following:
- Preventing harassment or bullying of others
- Practicing acts of kindness
- Showing compassion
Recommendations should be emailed directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Email your name, address and phone number along with your essay and the name of the person writing your recommendation to email@example.com by April 30, 2020.
The Jimmy Hauburger Memorial Foundation Board of Directors will decide who the scholarship will be awarded to upon review of all applications sent in. The JHMF Board reserves the right to interview semi-finalists if deemed necessary to determining the final outcome. Their decision is final.
